After so many trips, we thought a nice 4th of July hike would be great. Will wanted it to be challenging so we experienced our first non-trail, map and compass trip. We planned a 3-day trip out (1.5 miles on trail, 1 mile overland), but the mosquitos were so thick that we hiked back after only one day. Noah had mosquito bites on top of mosquito bites, despite our best efforts of having bug spray on and long sleeves.
Noah’s favorite part was glaciating down the snow berms as we made out way to Pyramid Lake. Isabel escaped the bugs by wading into the lake.
Once out we went down to twin lakes and found a nice spot along the lake to camp – mosquito free. We also rented a boat and rowed out on the lake.
