Bike/Hike: 7 miles
Chickadee Montessori is a huge part of our lives. The kids go to school 5 days a week for half days and we love the teachers and kids. One of the dads, Robert, put together a camping trip in January. We went to Fort Stevens Campground and had a wonderful time.
We logged probably 7 miles over the course of the weekend. We bike/hiked to the beach twice and then we went on a fantastic trail that was half paved and half mountain bike trail. It was SUPER fun. The kids felt like they were in the wild and since we didn’t consult the map on where we were, we felt we had discovered something new as well. We hiked through all the bunkers at Fort Stevens and taught the kids a little about weapons and war and what people might do. They didn’t get it, but that’s ok, it was the experience that counted.
Sidenote: Bike-Hiking is where we hike and the kids ride their striders along. We get a few more miles in and it mixes it up a little.
The kids were enamored with their friends fishing experience and couldn’t stop talking about fishing poles, which was a theme last year of something they wanted to do.
We can’t wait to do it again next year.
