When Nate and Josh were little we went on a Labor Day weekend camping trip with their cousins west of Sisters in the Three Creek Wilderness Area, just at the base of Broken Top. We took a short hike to Little Three Creek Lake. As we hiked we began seeing thousands of frogs. So many frogs that you couldn’t help but step on them, they were everywhere. As we got closer to the lake the frogs got thicker.
Fast forward 10 years and the trip is still vivid in our minds. When Isabel and Noah’s cousin Karli who lives near there wanted to experience backpacking, we instantly thought of the frog hike. It’s a short 1.5 miles into the lake.
We gave Karli a simple packing list and let her use our daypack.
